A person is able to be happy and enjoy life fully, first by believing it is possible and then by behaving in a way that demonstrates that they are completely in control of their perspective on life. How good would you feel if you were your desired weight? Pretty great, right? I‘m not sure if you have been caught in the cycle of dieting, overeating, feeling guilty and dieting again. It can be frustrating and can be tough on your self-esteem. Fad diets focus on what you eat and how often, whereas hypnotherapy changes how you feel about what you eat.

Know that just about everyone thinks they should lose weight whether they need to or not. The truth is that very few people are happy with the shape or size of their bodies regardless of whether they need to lose weight or not. It is kind of like hair. People with straight hair curl it and people with curly hair often pay the big bucks to straighten it.

Gone are the days of the curvaceous bodies of the Renaissance era. Today, body shape and size is tied to the Western idea of beauty and people are constantly looking for quick fixes to lose weight. But it is not that simple. You may have temporary success from diet pills, fad weight-loss diets and gruelling exercise programs but you have to ask yourself, “Am I happy doing this?” and “Can I carry on with this for the rest of my life?”

There are many reasons for losing weight and most of them are health related. The key word is health. Obesity can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, stokes, heart attacks and cancer. By-products of obesity are low self-esteem, anxiety and stress. These emotions can seriously reduce your quality of life and spill over onto your relationships, work and everyday experiences.

You may eat because you are lonely or bored. You may eat when you are miserable. You may eat to reward yourself after a workout at the gym. You may eat so fast that you don’t even taste the flavours. We all have to eat, but we have to eat with awareness. If you have made the decision to lighten up, it is important not to feel down or depressed about it. You are taking care of yourself and that is awesome.

The beauty of hypnotherapy for becoming slimmer is that it helps to change your mind and this in turn helps to change your body. It can reduce your craving for comfort foods. In order to become slimmer you have to be completely honest about how much you eat and exercise. It is all about portions and slowing down the pace at which you eat, giving your stomach time to catch up with your brain. Keeping well hydrated is also key to your success.
