Yin Yoga with Margot Schelew
If you are looking for a way to reduce stress and anxiety, Yin yoga can help you do this. Unlike Yang yoga, which is the dynamic practice of sun salutations and standing postures, Yin poses are predominantly done on the ground and are held for a about 5 minutes. This gives the connective tissue time to release. Breath is an important part of the practice as each exhale is an opportunity to let go of any tension you may have in your mind or your body. Yin will improve your range of motion as it focuses on hips, pelvis, inner thighs and the spine. It is a passive practice and encourages you to become calm and patient. When you step off your mat you take these qualities with you into your everyday life. No previous experience of yoga is needed for this class. Bring a yoga mat. Margot has been teaching Yoga for the past 15 years and is passionate about what yoga can do to improve a person’s sense of well-being.

You will create a list of things you need to give forgiveness for in order to release yourself from the draining task of carrying with you daily all the hurtful things others have done to you, you have done to others and you have done to yourself. During Group Hypnosis you will give yourself permission to forgive and then wrap yourself in loving kindness. A heart that forgives allows room for love to grow. No need to voice to the group what you are giving forgiveness for. Only you will know. If you have had an epileptic seizure, hypnosis is not for you. Comfortable clothes recommended. Sleep Well – Group Hypnosis
When life becomes challenging, getting quality sleep becomes an even more important piece for well-being. Join Hypnotherapist Margot Schelew, Certified Hypnotherapist, for a group workshop to learn some techniques to improve your sleep, yin yoga to relax and hypnosis send it all home. In this interactive event we will look at your sleep history, review your sleep hygiene, and consider little changes you can make to help regain restful and restorative sleep. You’ll be taught strategies to calm your mind in order to fall asleep, or to fall back asleep if you wake up in the middle of the night. After a 30-minute Yin Yoga session specifically designed to prepare you for sleep, Margot will lead you in a group hypnosis session which will reinforce positive thoughts about sleep and techniques to slow the mental chatter so you can drift off to sleep peacefully. After a brief introduction to hypnosis and the conscious and unconscious mind, I’ll lead the group in a hypnosis session filled with positive suggestions that will build confidence and self love as well as restore peace and calm to their busy lives. This will be followed by a relaxing YIN Yoga class laced with hypnotic language which will enable deep, deep relaxation.

Not everything in life is pleasant and sometimes we have to establish new habits to cope with challenges that come our way. I’ll introduce you to the Four Laws of the Mind and Change. Typically people are really good a talking about what’s not working in their life. In this session you will learn how to “Thought Shift” in order to rewire your brain to focus on positive outcomes. After the presentation, I’ll lead you through Group Hypnosis where you will receive lots of helpful and beneficial suggestions to improve your overall sense of well being.

Yoga Retreat with Group Hypnosis

A group of seasoned yogis from Halifax gathered at a beautiful farm in the valley to spend time amongst dear friends. Margot Schelew gave a talk about Hypnosis and the power of positive thinking which was followed by Group Hypnosis. An incredibly delicious evening meal was prepared by the staff; Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra brought closure to the day. After a light breakfast, a dynamic yoga practice was taught by Sandra Ryan, and food lovingly made by the yogis was served for lunch. The 2-day retreat was heart warming and very thought provoking.
