Yoga was the perfect way to slow down, reflect, and take a moment for myself

Margot taught a special yoga class the morning of my wedding day. The sun was shining on our warm faces and the river was running by full of life in front of us. I was surrounded by close friends and family. Yoga was the perfect way to slow down, reflect, and take a moment for myself on a very busy and exciting day! It allowed me to relax so I could focus on the rest of my day feeling rejuvenated. The feeling I get when I leave my mat is the reason I practice yoga regularly. No matter what kind of day I'm having, yoga always gives me the break and mental reset I need.

I find yoga is an excellent way to build strength and flexibility. It differs from other forms of exercise such as weight training or stretching, because it has the added benefit of good breathing techniques. Breathing with awareness while doing yoga, teaches your body to keep breathing while doing hard things. We can apply this to anything difficult in life. I enjoy doing yoga with Margot as she always has lots energy and enthusiasm. She brings something new to each class such as proper alignment for a particular pose and reminds us to express our gratitude daily.

I do think that the HypnoBirthing classes really helped us get prepared for labour. I loved the fact that it helped me relax during my pregnancy, and Adrian liked that it gave him the tools necessary to be a confident birthing partner.  I find even today, we use the calm breathing to keep ourselves centered.

It reprograms your psyche to accept and develop positive healing intentions

As the story continues, I have attended approximately 6 sessions with Margot and as you will understand should you begin sessions things are: "Getting Better and Better".  Ok just to be completely honest, this is not a quick fix and it certainly does not make life perfect, it provides a mind click that helps you have true breaks from anxiety and it re-programs your psyche to accept and develop positive healing intentions and generally helps you think more positively. I have completely stopped taking Ativan, which was becoming regular, I still take an anti-depressant, and believe in a reasonably short time I will also be able to stop that. I still have an occasional mild panic attack, but can almost always scare it away with my mantra "every day, in every way, I am getting better and better". This combined with some deep breathing has been a true godsend for me. I have even used these simple but effective techniques that Margot taught me to alleviate my fear of flying. I have had 2 flights in the past 5 days and have actually relaxed and enjoyed them. In fact, I am writing this testimonial as I am flying with absolutely no anxiety and without anxiety medication (a common occurrence on previous flights). Thank You Margot for coming into my life and helping me through this difficult time, you have helped me back from the brink. I will continue to update as sessions go on.
